This video is about the Space Shuttle Field Joint Assembly Fixture (FJAF) test. In this video I’m the one in the white suit sitting at the desk with my computer stuff. I wrote the program for the test and also built some of the electronics. I did it a sole employee subcontractor.
The whole test was to see if the new method of clamping the SRM’s would work properly for the next Shuttle. Those rocket segments had live propellant in them, so they made us wear asbestos suits in case it went off (like it would have helped!!)
